Dr. Anakwenze Demands Youth-Driven Revival, Open to Party Switch Amid PDP Zoning Debate

  • Dr. Anakwenze Demands Youth-Driven Revival, Open to Party Switch Amid PDP Zoning Debate

At the inauguration of the National Youth Planning Committee, prominent PDP figure Dr. Anakwenze issued a rallying cry for Nigeria’s future, declaring youth empowerment and political reform as urgent national priorities. In a candid interview, he criticized generational failures, hinted at abandoning the PDP for progressive change, and condemned the party’s refusal to rotate presidential power to the South East.

Youth Empowerment as National Imperative:
Speaking at the conference inaugurated by President Bola Tinubu, Dr. Anakwenze asserted, “The only hope for Nigeria is through the youths. The older ones have eaten up the future!” He urged immediate investment in sectors like AI, manufacturing, and agriculture, stressing that Nigerian youth could propel the nation to global competitiveness.

Political Loyalty vs. National Interest:
When questioned about his PDP membership, Anakwenze reaffirmed his affiliation but signaled flexibility: “What’s important is Nigeria’s progress. If rescuing Nigeria requires switching parties, I’m willing.” He lambasted the PDP’s internal strife, particularly the unresolved presidential zoning crisis. “Atiku’s camp refuses to rotate power to the South. We must prioritize national balance, not personal ambition,” he argued, advocating for a South Eastern candidate in 2023.

Presidential Ambitions and Divine Mandate:
The former PDP presidential aspirant vowed to continue his political fight, framing it as a divine mission. “I’ll keep running until Nigeria changes. God destined us to lead—no hurricanes, no earthquakes, yet we choose bad leaders,” he declared, criticizing predecessors as “failures.”

Economic Revamp: Produce or Perish:
Anakwenze slammed Nigeria’s reliance on imports for basic goods like matches and toothpicks, calling it economic suicide. “We have rubber but import tires; fertile land but complain of hunger. Until we produce and export, we’ll lag behind,” he said, urging a shift to local manufacturing of batteries, cocoa, and palm oil.

Call for Unity and Compliance:
Amid PDP’s court-resolved crises, he appealed for adherence to rulings: “If the court says vacate a position, comply. Think of Nigeria, not yourself.”

Closing Statement:
Dr. Anakwenze’s remarks highlights growing pressure on Nigeria’s political elite to cede ground to youth-driven innovation and equitable leadership. As the PDP grapples with internal dissent, his warnings highlight a nation at a crossroads—between stagnation and transformative change.
